Welcome to Parkland Alpaca Farm. We purchased our first alpaca, Ahnald, in 2001 and began attending shows and seminars learning about alpacas. We started looking for a location for our farm and moved to our Granville location in 2003.
Where does the time go, it is hard to believe that five years have come and gone since we purchased our Granville farm on February 27, 2003. When we look back over the years we can see a lot of growth in our herd. After moving to Granville, we had our first three alpacas, Ahnald, Lindsay and Michelle, delivered to the farm on August 15, 2003. One month later, our first cria was born bringing our herd total to four.
Five years later, we have had twelve cria born on the farm and have made several additional purchases, bringing our herd census to twenty-one. This spring we are expecting four additional births on the farm.
The Farm Store is scheduled to open this year. The Store will feature alpaca clothing, alpaca yarn from our herd, raw alpaca fiber for the hand-spinner, local honey and maple sugar products, as well as handcrafted items made by Diane.
Over the years we have shown many of our alpacas in several of the regional alpaca shows winning ribbons wherever we went. We have raised several herdsires who are available for breeding as well as junior herdsires who are waiting in the wings.
This past year we have taken our alpacas to Holbrook’s Adult Home to visit with some of our senior citizens and we hope to become more involved in community education on the alpaca industry in North America. Yes, time does go but to coin a phrase, “Life is Good.”
